The red grouper is a species of fish that receives the aforementioned name for its characteristic color, and it is a species that is found in tropical and temperate waters, as is the case in the Yucatan region, where it usually inhabits in large numbers.

This species of fish can also be found in the maritime areas of Brazil and Bermuda, as well as finding it very close to algae and corals, at a depth of approximately 20 meters, being a considerable size for the species.

The red grouper, despite being the most found, also has other very curious species such as the pinto grouper, which is typical of the Florida area and is the species that has the best gastronomic flavor.

Among the other species of these fish we highlight the giant grouper and the black one, where in the first place, it is a fish that can reach 300 kilos in weight and in the latter case, it is a species that is very typical of the Colombian sea. .

Regarding the shape of this popular species, we highlight that in addition to a characteristic red color, it has a characteristic elongated shape with the lower jaw pointing outward, giving the impression of having a bulging mouth.

This is a fish that can reach 45 cm in length, its side has orange and light blue tones, as well as yellow in its lower zone. Finally, it is a species that feeds on crabs, cuttlefish and other marine animals.

The black fish, also usually known by the name of 'conger eel' is a species of elongated fish that is found mainly in the North Atlantic, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and even in the Baltic Sea, being one of the most striking species .

Although it seems a fairly simple fish, we must emphasize that the black fish can measure up to 3 meters in length and have 50 kilos, as well as it is a species that is found in depths of 20 or 100 meters deep, coming out closer to the surface in the nights.

The reproduction of this fish is something that has caught the attention of scientists, since it is said that on average, the female reaches up to 10 million eggs, which seems unusual for many people, but it does happen.

Threats to these species

The main threat of the red and black grouper, and of many species in the world, is the human himself, because as we mentioned, today more than ever it is very frequent that illegal fishing and hunting are carried out against these curious species .
